Hi again everyone!!!
Susan Ingram2008-03-29 16:57
Sorry it's been so long since I posted but between sailing and
maintence, it's been busy.
For those of you that have the 27 PT and converted to a standard vang:
How far back on the boom and how far up the mast did you place the
bail (or whatever hardware you used)?
Also, I am planning on adding t-tracks forward after I remove the
vang, any suggestions on placement and length? I wanted to go 4 feet,
but I'm not sure if that is too much.
Last question. Those of you that have a sliding pole ring on the
mast, how far up from the deck did you go?
I have searched the archives, files and pics but have not been able
to gather to much info on the placement.
I took the 30 year old head out this week... I will NEVER do that
again! I am hoping to post some pics on the refurb, it is going slow,
but we have been doing quite a bit of racing and cruising. Thanks
again for your suggestions and answering all those pre-purchase
questions last year. I love this boat!!!
Also, will there be a Caltopia in Alameda again this fall. I want to
put it on the calander early so that I can attend.
Thanks everyone!
Susan

Susan,
I went to the yard today (finally 10 whole days without snow and a balmy 38
degrees). The bail on the boom is 60" from the gooseneck. The bail on the
mast is at the top of the track for the cabin top (sea photo). I re-worked
mine for an 8:1 purchase and routed it back to the cockpit. I still have
end-boom sheeting. When I take the cover off, I'll let you know about the
ring.

WOW!! Thanks for braving the elements!!! That is a big help. We have
decided to lay down some forward genoa tracks and for that to happen
that dang PT vang has to go. Maybe it's me, but it really is a b^%#h
to figure out how to adjust it properly. Besides, we wanted nice and
easy on the boat, especially while racing.
Luckily a 2-27 moved in a few slips down and I have been checking out
his setup, I think I figured out where the rest of the new hardware
needs to go.
Thanks again for the help, mucho appreciated!!!
Stay warm,
Susan
