Anyone Looking for Scrap Metal - Maybe Parts from military aircraft?
Bruce Stirling2008-04-02 09:46
There is going to be an online auction of scrap from Tucson's military
surplus "boneyard." Not sure what will actually be for sale, but I
thought some may have a project need for something out of the
ordinary, ass/u/ming there is anything for sale apart from metal.
Here's the story link:

Gee Whizz!
Be the first kid on the block with a static display in your front yard, of a B-52 doing a full on high G SAM evasion maneuver, or an A-4 doing a high G- Atomic Bomb lobing pull-up, or an S-3 doing a depth charge dive bomb on a Rooskie sub! Whooie! The possibilities are enormous!

Does anyone have experience with a product called Poliglow? I saw it applied (very very EASY looking job) on a boat in the yard..the top sides looked like a new lpu paint job! The company's web site has great claims and Practrical Sailor gave it good marks.
Would like to know if anyone on the list has used it???http://www.poliglow-int.com/

We've used it for 3 seasons on our CS 30(for sale: see at www.telltalephotos.com) with great results.?Like most things, the first time prep is the key to success.? Don't skip any of their directions and I would do it in mid 70's to low 80's weather and light or no wind if possible.? Set up scaffolding or have a way to cover your whole boat easily so that you can move quickly.? My wife did ours and it looks great.? It will not prevent black streaks from your toe rail if you have an aluminum one, but they do come off a little easier.

Hey Mike,
I used it on my boat last year and it is holding up well.
I did not use their boat wash/prep I used Simple Green and a scrub pad (non abrasive) It really took off the oxidation well.
When I fist got the boat, it was so bad that walking fore to aft would make your feet dry up and crack! Of course do not use it on-deck as it is slick.
I put on about 4-6 coats and did not use half a bottle
It was about 100 degrees here when I did it and I wish it was cooler so the brush would not have dried out so quickly
I did not see where it said to simply rinse to brush with water to clean it but that is all it takes and do it before it dries or you will buy another.

I USED POLI-GLOW ON A 1969 CAL2-30 WITH GREAT RESULTS. THE BOAT WAS SO BADLY OXIDIZED THAT THE CAL DARK BLUE WAS LIGHT BLUE AND THE WHITE HULL FELT CHALKI AND RUBBED OFF ON CONTACT. POLI-GLOW WAS APPLIED 3 YEARS AGO? AND THE BOAT LOOKS LIKE A NEW BOAT. THIS YEARS PREP WILL BE A WASH JOB WITH DISH SOAP AND WATER AND A FEW TOUCH UPS WITH POLI-GLOW WHERE WE SCUFFED A FEW DOCKS. JUST MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS AND MAKE SURE YOUR DARK COLORS ARE UNIFORM AND DULL BEFORE APLYING FINISH AND DONT PANIC AT YOUR FIRST FEW COATS JUST KEEP GOING TILL YOU HAVE 4 TO 6 COATS ON AND YOU CAN TELL WHEN? YOU HAVE ENOUGH ON BECAUSE IT GETS SMOTHER AND EASYER. ADVICE FOLLOW
DIRECTIONS ON PRODUCT!
