If you read the big glossy sailing magazines, you'd get the impression
that it's unsafe to set out in anything smaller than 45 feet. This list
suggests something I've always assumed, which is that the mid-30s are a
very good size to combine ease of handling, adequacy of accommodations,
and general safety. Of course, John Vigor wrote a book, _20 Small
Sailboats to Take You Anywhere_, which included the Cal 20. You might
get there, but you'd probably be wearing the one pair of underwear that
you'd have room for after providing for food, water, and other
necessities. And the other necessities probably would not include a
first mate, which would make the accommodations problem even more acute.

Cal 20 in the list.
