I have long heard that the Kubota diesel is the industrial version of the Yanmar and that they are identical. I was wondering if Joe DeMeers has knowledge of this hearsay and would comment.

PS After 2 days of not being able to leave our marina to sail, we have left San Leandro and our boat is now docked at Marina Village on Alameda Island. We now have access to sailing depth water anytime and only 100 feet from our slip!!

Interesting Blog. This month's Practical Sailor Magazine has a review on electrical propulsion for sailboats. They reviewed 3 different methods and concluded that the electric boat is not quite ready for prime time. The main disadvantage is cruising distance when compared to diesel systems. Far too short at 15-20 miles, to be practical to the average cruiser.
I am ready to re-power and wish that electric made more sense but I'm buying a Kabota diesel from Joe DeMeers.

Kubota is a marinized farm tractor diesel. Which, makes spare parts readily and inexpensive available. Also easy to service.
