Transmission Help

Can anybody provide info on transmission(s) used in 1979 Cal 31 w/ Volvo Penta MD7A? I have the workshop manual for the engine but not much on the transmission. I'm trying to find replacement for the shift mechanism, or at least some kind of diagram. Two pictures are attached, the brass piece in the second picture being the suspected culprit of not shifting into reverse. Also, now that I have it off the tranny I'm not exactly sure which direction it's supposed to be replaced in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
