Randy, It will be interesting to see other comments on this.... but here some information about our boat. I replaced our strut last year after almost 30 years of service. We've had the boat since new. We've never had a zinc on the strut. When I pulled the boat last year, I noticed it was starting to go pink and some cracks were showing, thus we bought a new strut. We've never had a zinc on the strut, nor did I put a zinc on the new strut. There is no grounding wire off the bolts either. I have the regular 2 zincs on the shaft, and I also hang a zinc fish over the side and clip it to backstay which is grounded to the shaft and engine. I am getting a lot of corrision and my diver is wanting to drill a hole in it to add a zinc. I contacted Martec and they are against drilling and adding a zinc. I want to run a ground from the mounting bolt in the boat. My boat does not have any grounds run. Would I just run a ground to the engine block?
