My boat came with a Water Witch in 1997 and it is still working fine and I'm very satisfied with it. One time it stopped working because of oil between the contacts (the problem TomV described). That was easily fixed by cleaning it. I DO NOT clean it on regular basis and my bilge does have some oil and the failure has not repeated. So it may not be as susceptable to oil as Tom V describes but it is certainly an important issue to consider. I just decided to add cleaning the contact area to my maintenance schedule.
