Happy Holidays

Best to everyone. This picture was taken by Tom Corboy (CAL 25 1610)
behind his house on Spa Creek up from Annapolis. A delightful winter
scene. Brian Cleverly (Anzam Yacht Refurbishing and former list
member) used it on his Holiday Cards a few years back.

Happy Holidays

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday (for whatever holiday you
celebrate). I'm looking forward to installing the gifts I've purchased for
my "girl" Indefatigable.
The Annapolis Cal 25 fleet will be participating in our annual "Hangover
Bowl" on new years day. Commodore Husar has always done an excellent job of
mustering the troops. So much so that we're the only fleet that gets it's
own start. The racing instructions typically say 1:30 Cal 25 start
1:35 All other boats. The race is downright interesting with a "sailboat
slalom" and other boathandling feats. Afterward, Annapolis Yacht Club hosts
a New Years Day party with pizza and beer.
If anyone happens to be near Annapolis visiting family and wants to take
part in some New Years Day fun, I have room aboard Indi.
Cheers,
Scott

You can just see the draw bridge in the distance.

Wow, great photo!
We don't get to see too many snow-covered boats here in the Great Lakes
because almost all are hauled for the winter. Visiting our boats on the
hard at the boatyard is as close to sailing as we get here in the
wintertime Great Lakes, except that a week ago I launched my kayak for
my 139th consecutive month of paddling on the Great Lakes. Because of
our early winter, the problem was finding a place to launch. My
last-resort launch site is the boat ramp on our Boardman River, just
upstream from Grand Traverse Bay. Even there, a large plate of ice
blocked access. I kicked at it with my foot, trying to crack open a
small route, when suddenly the whole plate floated from shore and down
the river--problem solved.
