David, I dunno. We had the Olympics here in 1984 (gosh, was it that long ago? It was great fun, and, amazingly, there was less freeway traffic than normal...I guess with all the horror stories everyone left town!) What I didn't like was the events were grossly overpriced. I remember seeing a Water Polo match and paying $35 a ticket in '84 dollars. I guess that would be double that now. But, the Marathon ran right thru my neighborhood, and I actually got to meet, well, see some of my neighbors for the first time. The second time being when everyone piled out of their apartments at 4:17AM on MLK day after the big Earthquake of 94, a . What can I say, LA is not a very friendly town. Chicago would be lots better! That's right, almost no one in the sailing community wants the Olympics here.
