Speed Log Recommendations
Michael D2009-02-19 15:50 UTC
Hello Everyone,
Magic is coming out of the water soon for bottom painting. Race season starts here in about six weeks. While she's on the hard I plan to replace the existing (non-functional) speed log. I'm looking for recommendations.
I prefer to stay away from Raymarine for personal reasons. (After all it's my money, and I can spend it where I want.)
Thanks for your suggestions & input.

When we had our 2-29 out of the water last August, I replaced the
original sounder with an Airmar NMEA2000 depth/speed/temp and replaced
the Datamarine depth display with a Garmin GMI-10. It's really nice.
My eventual goal is to add a GPS receiver to the NMEA network and
replace the original knotmeter (which still works) with a matching
GMI-10. With the GPS and two displays there is a multitude of
information that can displayed.
You can see the GMI in the lower right of this picture from our last
