Royalty Cruise Update
Well folks, we got back from sailing in the boat parade that wasn't.
Unfortunately, the request for sailboats wasn't made far enough ahead of
time. There was absolutely nobody out for the "Pass and Review" which is
very sad. King Juan Carlos used to be an Olympic sailor and Pensacola
celebrates its 450th birthday this year. It was cool of him and Queen
Sofia to come. Of course its Thursday and most people had to work, but
everybody? What a bummer. It was the perfect excuse to play hooky and go
sail.
Another bummer is that not only were we unable to take out our Cal-40,
/Celtic Naut,/ we weren't able to get Reggie and Barb's Cal-36,
/Submit/, out of the slip due to low tide in the bayou. Tom's Cal-46 was
stuck in the mud as well. Our client that just had his transmission
changed out for the 4th time since October (Guess which kind...) needed
a sea trial anyway so we borrowed his Morgan 32, /North Beach/, to go
out. The wind was out of the N-NW 15-20 g25 and temps were in the low
60's with full on sunshine. There was hardly any chop. Basically a
perfect day for sailing. Too bad Cal's weren't represented except by
their sailors.
