Chris C.,
Are you a Boat US member? If you are you received the latest magazine. If not go to the website, there is a feature article on ice boat sailing.

Thanks, Dave. The web site would not let me into the magazine but I'll
ask around and find somebody who's a member.

Ooh, thanks for that article! It mentions Saginaw Bay, where I started
iceboating and where my other soft-water boat lives, and it mentions the
Gougeon Brothers, those wonderful creative and curious sailors. Just
for the record, DNs are still wood and are still largely owner-built,
although a lot of serious sailors have fancy masts now.
That first photo, taken with the kite camera, is cool. Somebody sent me
some kite photography links recently--was it from this list? It was a
web site put together by a couple sailors about kite photography of your
sailboat.

I love it!
Ron is from our club, and we have a number of hardcore sailors, including the hard water kind! Some sailors will do anything to keep in the wind. . .
There are other champs around Lake St. Clair. I just wish I could stand the cold.

Re: [Cal_Boats] Boat US Magazine - and also the Cal 30 ground tackle thing
Lord Nougat2009-03-05 07:23 UTC
It took me long enough!
You guys need some warmth to thaw your boats out so the list shrinks back to it's "easy to catch up on" summertime size!
P.S. Whoever it was that I was going to post pix of my friend's bow roller setup on his Cal 30 for: sorry, I broke my camera somehow... and only just now realised that my phone can take pictures too, so I'll use that tomorrow, I think. It will look pretty craptacular, but should convey the general idea.
