Cal 20s

I gather there are different configurations or models of Cal 20s, depending on when built.
Some have solid decks?
Some have bulkheads?
Some are "open"?
Can someone explain the different Cal 20 versions, when made, relative advantages, weight differences if any, are some stiffer, faster, etc.........?
Thank you

Others will want to chime in no doubt with greater authority then I as I'm
rather new to these boats.
Original CAL-20 up to a certain date had a full wooden bulkheads that were
later replaced with two stainless tubes.
Most CAL's were build in the US but some were build in Canada in either
Vancouver or Vancouver Island and these are distinguished by he later have
two lazarettes in the cockpit vs one.
The general concensus on the CAL-20 list is that the older the CAL the better.
I'm sure other will provide greater levels of detail as they know the boat
much better.

The only variations I have seen are in hardware. Jensen Marine used
different types of bow pulpits, cockpit rails, winches, cleats, and so
on. Presumably this reflected different supplier prices during the long
period when the boat was being built. I've never seen and 20s with
bulkheads or with solid decks. It's only the peripheral stuff that
varies. My buddy has one with a welded stainless pulpit and cockpit
rails with riveted end fittings. My boat has a bow pulpit with riveted
end fittings and welded cockpit rails. I've threatened to steal his
pulpit when he's not looking.
That said, I'm far from an expert, and it's possible that I just haven't
seen the variants in question.
