Custom-fabricated 1/8th inch "G-10", beveled, and LP'd to match the cabin-sides. Matching pieces on the inside.<http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT*vklT07Uj09w%24%24> <http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT!LcMpsR2CQrw%24%24> New white maple cabinetry in forward cabin, same on both sides. <http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT!swWguXCEuIg%24%24> Slowly working our way aft. There will be just two bunks in the main cabin, similar to "Illusion". Each bunk will be 28" wide. <http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT81NfLEm6fLIg%24%24> Just starting in the head. Counter will be 3" higher than original, and a smaller sink moved inboard, to avoid the "bailing" problem, when heeled on stbd. tack. The black bag is our forward water tank, 20 gallons, and serves both the head sink and the deck shower. <http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT88BjgjoQp7cQ%24%24> Flat floor in the galley. Much more comfortable unless you're more than 6' tall, and maybe better even if you are tall. Especially comfortable when standing at the galley or nav station. <http://photos.msn.com/Viewing/Album.aspx?PST=8nK2AN1B!1JmZao!iR2Cw0xkempWprU7YUqL!LcjkQAdOQ10BpHD4OYZhqeZb58Hmeg8usSDjT*nahOzdDk8aA%24%24> Nearly finished. I'll take it home and seal with a few coats of varnish. The top of the plywood is approximately 6" above the standard floor. This MSN Photo E-mail slideshow will be available for 30 days. Fin, Great looking job... I really like the "level floor" idea.. Im thinking I might do that in my Cal 29.. What did you use to attach those shims to the fiberglass sole? I see the ones surrounded with foil, is that some sort of glue? I also love that white maple.. makes the boat look even bigger.. Is Charlie making frames for Cal 29s..? ;^) If so I'll take four of em..... cheers eric jackson BAREFOOT 1971 CAL 29 CHANNEL ISLANDS CA.

Fin, Thanks for the great ideas and modifications. I am in entering the full restoration of L'Esprit Libre and these ideas will be great information needed for me to move forward. I am tackling the mast step this year and it will be a perfect time to make things more comfortable. Once again, thank you for the great photo's. Patrick L'Esprit Libre Cal 40 #137
