Main Halyard Sheave for Cal 29

sa… [at] aol.com2009-04-07 02:17 UTC
Hi everyone - I have a 1970 Cal 29, #154 and have what appears to be a problem sheave for my mainsail halyard - its the original as far as I can see and am looking to replace it. First I will pull the pin and take a look, to make sure the pin is not bad, but has anyone recently replaced theirs and what did you use, where did you buy it? I thought this was a recent post but I cant find it in my storage of emails, any help appreciated... Need to get the measurements on the sheave, Shelley. We had a batch made for the CAL 25s in Annapolis by a local shop. Oilite bearing centers and all. Info needed is: -External diameter -Thickness -Diameter of pin Do you still use wire halyards? This determines the type of groove. The sheaves may be different sizes (aft main larger). It is very hard to mess with these things while the mast is up. Parts make the cutest little "blip!" when they hit the water. I replaced mine a few years ago and used Zephyrwerks. The fellow who does this is great. Send him your old ones and he will make you up some new. Shelley, I replaced mine a couple of years ago and used a high tech company from Washington called Zephyrworks. Not cheap, but they made custom sheaves to fit my rope halyards. wilkie On Apr 6, 2009, at 7:17 PM, sa… [at] aol.com wrote: > Hi everyone - I have a 1970 Cal 29, #154 and have what appears to be > a problem sheave for my mainsail halyard - its the original as far > as I can see and am looking to replace it.
