Miami to Key Largo Race - Synopsis

Hello All, We race Magic Saturday; rated at 35 miles but 42 unless you really are anxious to find the bottom. We finished the race at 5 hours 40 some minutes... I forget exactly. It was a fun ride on a reach, pulling 7.5 kts at times with the asymmetrical up, and 6.5 with the 155. We don't know what our finish is yet, but it wasn't first place as we couldn't catch a 26 ft Pearson with a bottom shiny enough to use a mirror. We crossed the finish line about a minute behind them. Odin, a Cal 40, dismated with a spinnaker up after the port cap shroud gave way. The mast buckled above the spreaders. No injuries. --Michael--

Congrats Michael, sounds like a great race. Which Cal 40 had the struggles? Heartfelt sympathy for the loss of a mast. Always hate to see a fellow sailor go through that.
