That information was for august 27Th 2003, about the closest approximation of Mars and Earth, and was exaggerated, the brigth was 2.9 mag., like Moon but angular diameter was only 25 sec. of arc. Previous one was 57.600 B.C. Next one will be august 28Th 2287.
