One of these years, I'll get my video of the 1981 Transpac Race transferred and edited. It was an 8mm movie and is now on tape. I have been, when I have time, transferring it to digital video, first with Final Cut Express (Which it helps to have a PhD in video editing) and next will try iMovie 8. The movie is nearly an hour but there is a lot of fun stuff in it, like having a chute shackle open with Davey Glander at the masthead. We had to round up to avoid sailing over the chute and Davey was up there like a monkey. He had been switching halyards to reduce chafe. We finished at dawn in a squall and got some good video coming out of that, too. I've also got some movies of Mexican races, too. Someday. The hardest training point in our schooner crew training is convincing them that it's extremely cold in the middle of Lake Michigan, even in August, if you're out there in the middle of the night. Right now, we were getting skim ice on our Bay on cold mornings within the last week. That means that the water is pretty close to freezing still.
