CAL-29 Beam Question

Greets:
Was wondering is there is any access at all to the beam in order to scope it
or is drilling out a hole the only way?
Best and thanks

This may or may not be helpful for a 29 but I put an access port in
the glass sill over the beam in the Cal 40. I can take off the cover
in winter to vent, it gave us access to pull hoses from the head to
the holding tank in the bottom of the hanging locker and it lets me
look at the beam. It is in the forward side of the sill so it doesn't
show from the saloon.

we also cut out a hand hole on the fiberglass mast base in the compartment shared with the hanging locker. Good for hose routing, washing down the beam, inspection and spraying anticorrosive goop in the beam.

Thanks Mike;
That's a very solid idea and way of inspecting and maintaining it. Much
appreciated.
