Navigation Lights

Hello All,
I'm looking for recommendations to replace/upgrade the navigation lights. When I bought Magic, she had Perko horizontal mounted port/starboard lights (WM part number 257139) at the bow; each mounted just behind and to the side of the forestay. I never liked their location, and with installing a bow roller, they had to go.
On recommendation of another local sailor, I installed Perko vertical mounted port/starboard lights (WM part number 148333) just below the rub rail.
Bad idea! It hasn't taken long for the contacts to corrode. Now I'm looking at alternatives. I'm considering using a bi-color Aqua Signal Series 25 (WM part number 174367) mounted to the bow pulpit with the optional Rail Bracket (WM part number 203844). Of course snaking the wire through the bow pulpit is likely to be challenging.
I'd like to hear from others that have gone through this to hear their thoughts, experience, and/or recommendations.
Thanks,
--Michael--

Here is one way to get the wire through the pulpit. Drill a small exit hole for the wire at the desired pulpit locations. Then fish a metal chain into the hole while using a magnet to draw the chain where you want it to exit. Tape your wire onto the chain and pull the wire.
I have the same problem as you describe below, in my opinion the roller is overkill in size and the original running lights were removed. A tri color was added to the masthead however, we all know that alone is not legal for motoring, since the port and starboard lights have to be below the steamer light. The way mine is now I have to use battery opp running lights when motoring and turn on the steamer light. All of this is a big pain when single handing. Honestly, I am guilty of motoring into the marina with just the masthead tri color.
Has anyone put remote running light switches in the cockpit?

I ended up rewiring my Cal 25 just a few weeks ago and have all the running lights running to a panel in the cockpit. Much easier to access. This way I have only interior applications assigned to the inside panel and all the lights for the outside to ap water resistant panel mounted in the cockpit on the starboard side just outside of the companionway. There was a throttle control and starter for the old out board already there. I just took it out and placed my panel in its place.
Works great, simply reach down and flip them on or off. I have them wired in a manner I can just feel the toggles and know what goes to what.
