WHAT BOOK? --- On Wed, 6/10/09, Wayne Gillikin <wa… [at] yahoo.com> wrote: From: Wayne Gillikin <wa… [at] yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Wire tension To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 10:38 AM Sorry, I actually had the tuning sequence wrong. The way I stated it would have you adjusting the windward shrouds. Bad idea. Corrected process: Sight up the mast, see what's wrong, Tack, make an adjustment in the leewards, tack, repeat. Anyway, you get the idea. Never adjust the loaded windwards. Its all in the book. This is based no the size of the wire, naturally. There is an excelent, well illustrated, book "Sail & Rig Tuning" by Ivar Dedekam. Ivar covers it all. Keep in mind that what you do at the dock is a preliminary set up. Tuning is done while sailing. Preferably in 15 kts of wind at a 20 degree heel angle. Sight up the mast, see what's wrong, fix it, tack, repeat on the other side. Go to cal20 class website and kick up links. Then apply it to your boat---Don't knock it until you have tried it---You will get a whole nother persective on Rig Tune. I've tried it and it works--- Dave Ulman on rig tune/ Noreh sails on rig tune --- On Wed, 6/10/09, Wayne Gillikin <wa… [at] yahoo.com> wrote: From: Wayne Gillikin <wa… [at] yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Wire tension To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 10:29 AM The initial set up at the dock is based on a percentage of the breaking strength of the wire.
