Speaking of Contessa 26's, didn't a young man do a round the world in one of them few years back? As in, setting a record for the youngest person to do so at the time? We at Marina del Rey are awaiting arrival of newest youngest round the world record holder, Zack. I have a friend who as a Contessa 26, it looks like it might be smaller inside than my Olde Cal 24, but the bigger Contessas are probably far mor spacious. WE have a fellow here who races one successfully, after campaigning successfully with a Cal 27MkI for many years. He speciallizes in single and double handed racing. In fact I was surprised when he only took second place in his division in the MdR to Catalina Race last weekend! Still, you should definately get that Cal, and then give me your Contessa. I promise I'll take good care of her! I've already got a Contessa 26 as a bluewater boat, and was looking at the Cal as a liveaboard and coastal cruiser (the Contessa is coffin-like inside). I was attracted by the spacious galley and generally sensible interior layout.Anyone know what the headroom is like on these boats though? I'm 6'1", and while I don't mind stooping, I wouldn't want to be in a perpetual hunch. Thanks, Antonio.
