I think there are also at least one of my old 6061-T6 aluminum spinnaker poles, probably two, just sitting there oxidizing. We replaced all the standing rigging in 2003 and got new carbon fiber poles.

My boom was originally set up for roller reefing. At one time the fitting cracked (from rolling it) and I had it welded. The weld did not hold and that is the condition it is in now. It is hard to tell from the picture but the weld is more an issue with rolling it than with the strength as a gooseneck so I am not totally stupid leaving it the way it is. I have removed the ability of the thing to roll by replacing the pin with a bolt and that adds some strength. It may be very strong but it just looks like I should be careful. It doesn't look as strong as the booms and goosenecks on newer boats.
See what you think

Thanks. That would make the spin poles 15.2 feet, too long for my boat but
thanks!
If I ever get to the point of taking my gooseneck off, it will be a simple
matter to remove the roller fitting and change that out but I think for now
I just won't add too much stress to it.

They are made of alum tube w/ends held on by 4 sheet metal screws. A very simple job to shorten.

My boom was originally set up for roller reefing. At one time the fitting cracked (from rolling it) and I had it welded. The weld did not hold and that is the condition it is in now.
