Re:Ice Box for 1988/89 Cal 28
I don't have a source for replacements, but I have two suggestions. Good Old
Boat Magazine has had a few articles about building your own ice box, I
believe, and you can order back issues from the Web site. I think they also
have them on CD-ROM.
I don't know where I saw the second idea - probably also in Good Old Boat
Magazine - but I saw where someone bought a standard plastic consumer ice
chest and mounted it under the counter. It has seamless sides and bottom,
plenty of insulation, easy to clean, and relatively inexpensive. They come
in all shapes and sizes, so you may be able to find a good solution at your
local Walmart. Just add a hole and hose for a drain fitting and you're all
set. The top will seal tighter than anything I could build, and you can
mount a bit of the countertop to the lid so the whole thing disappears.
