Cal 34 Tiller post cap

Hi All, Does anyone know where I can obtain a replacement tiller post cap and tiller bracket for my 1969 Cal 34 (tiller post dia. is 2 7/8")? The existing cap has already been repaired but still has several hairline cracks, so I am reluctant to put the boat back in the water before replacing the cap. Cheers, Peter Mc Tague

Peter, Contact Edson. They'll have one. Michael

The Edson is silly expensive... There is really not too much to a cap and a couple of tangs to justify. I had a local machine shop repair mine properly for less than $5o (bronze) and doing a new one in Stainless would have been about $125 but the machinest/welder talked me out of it that the repair made more sense. Going the DIY route also makes sense... It is just a cap with a hole in it after all. Hi Bob, Thanks for the feedback. I contacted Edson but they don't have anything to suite the dia of my rudder post anyway. I had a repair done on the cap before and was not too satisfied as there are still some hairline cracks. I will have a chat to another fabricator I know and and see what he thinks.
