First let me say that when I researched insurance it was quite a while ago so I don't remember the exact details but you'll get the drift (no pun intended) and you may want to reconsider Boat US. What we discovered when we compared insurance policies side by side with Travelers, Boat US had huge coverage amounts on things that were unlikely to happen, like getting struck by an asteroid (exaggeration of course) and small coverages on things that were most likely to happen like hitting a piling or something of that nature. Bottom line is that we went with Travelers because their insurance made sense and it was the same amount. Several years ago when Hurricane Isabel came up the Chesapeake Bay I called them up and asked what they wanted me to do with my boat as I was still in the water. They said they'd reimburse me up to $500 to do whatever I felt necessary to protect the boat from damage ie: either haul out or buy extra lines and anchors. I got hauled and then thought to myself, here comes the rub . .. they probably won't pay to splash the boat again but to my surprise they did. Bottom line is don't just compare rates, compare the actual coverage. Paul West Adventure Kwest Cal 39 In a message dated 9/8/2009 11:18:06 A.M. 3 firsts and a second on Sunday in the bouy races ( the surprise was to get the second instead of last!) first in class, third overall in the distance race on Monday first overall for the regatta. CAL 27 T/2 "Knot Ready". Homely, but sails great! Reggie

Will the typical marine policy cover a transmission failure due to an abandon line in the harbor wound up in the prop?
