Cal-40 in Big Boat Series

The San Francisco Big Boat Series starts today and for the first time the Cal-40 will be a one design class. I am going to go watch tomorrow. I want to see the Cal-40's in action, the TP-52s (including one featured in the movie Morning Light), and my friend with the L-36 who is tactician on the Express-37 that is the boat to beat having won the last two years. That's a pretty boat but I was talked out of a blue hull by the yard. They told me I needed to own a boat yard to keep up a blue hull. They said it would blister. Ironically, I have a few small blisters on my white hull. I wonder if there is a reason why so many Cal 40s have dark hulls in the Bay Area but not down here. Temperature ? I sent files that were max 600 high 800 wide. Wow, photos came thru beautifully, I remember doing my first Port Huron to Mackinaw race in 1979 on a Cal 40 named Rubicon. Still sail against the skipper at our club Crescent Sail Yacht Club on Lake St Clair. He now owns a Alerion 28 and I have the Cal 9.2. Still a great sport to be able to continue your whole life.
