spinnaker for a Cal 29
weststar01262009-10-27 21:50
I would like to buy a used asym spinaker for my Cal 29. Can anyone give me some advice on what size I should be looking for? Thanks.

I saw some recommendations somewhere that said luff at 90 to 100% of I and
foot at 160-180% of J but that could have been my interpretation of what it
said. The main point was it depended on what you wanted to do with it.
There are some racing rules that limit size so you need to know that if you
are going to race. Going down from that makes it easier to deal with.
Disclaimer: I have never flows a spinnaker so don't listen to me.

FX sails (I have no vested interest) lists a Cal 29 asym at:
Luff = 38 ft
Leach = 34.5ft
Foot = 20 Ft
Total 640 Sq Ft

You can go to FX sails and type in the CAL 29 and they will give you the size.

I',m just looking to cruise with it. I dont want to go too big and have it over power the boat.
