My project cal 20 came without side rails. Never installed from the factory. If anyone has a set or knows where I can get a set cheap would really appreciate hearing about it. Nice to be able to stay in that boat and feel cozy when the wind pipes up.
later and thanks.......

Hi Chris,
When I bought my cal 20 she didn't have side rails installed from the
factory either. Racers usually remove them, so I contacted the Cal 20 Fleet
in Portland, Or. ( there is a large fleet of Cal 20's there ) and asked if
anyone there had some, and I got several responses from people in the club
and was able to pick up a set for free. I am sure there is still some to be
had there.
Don Hamann 503-643-8595 Do… [at] smgengr.com I believe is the Fleet Pres.
and would probably broadcast a request to the fleet for you.
Hope that helps

The racing crowd remove them so they can hang out over the gunwale and
there are those who argue that they give a false sense of security.
Another Cal 20 owner here bought his from such a skipper.
Me, I love mine, and feel that they give me some real security to have
something to grab onto. Besides, they give something to prop a cushion
against for a back support. And if it really is a false sense of
security, hey, I'm willing to be fooled.

thanks all for the recommendations on the cal 20 rails. BTW in response to my other request, that one came through as well off list. So all in all, things look really promissing..:)
Best regards and many thanks
