Charlie, 2 very different boats. The CAL 2-24 was the one that sort-of looked like a smaller 25, the T/4 was the design that more or less seems to have replaced the 2-24 in the CAL model line up and the T/4 more or less looked like a smaller version of the first CAL 27 (AKA pop-top 27) but without the pop-top and with an outboard rudder on a reverse transom (top of transom was forward of the bottom). Other than that.... I believe the T/4 was designed to compete in the MORC 1/4 Ton class, just as the T/2 was designed to compete in the MORC 1/2 Ton Class. I know that the T/4 had/has it's rudder on the stern. So many boats, so little time. Even then it is a VERY different boat, starting with the cast-iron fin-keel. The original CAL 24 was very similar to but beamier than the LAPWORTH 24/Gladiator 24. The CAL 24 had a shallow full-keel with a centerboard housed inside, the LAPWORTH 24 was a deep full-keel. The Gladiator was the same hull as the L24, but with a CAL25 style raised deck (so-called "flat deck"). I guess that the CAL 2-24 would look like the Gladiator from a distance, easy to tell apart when hauled out, since the Gladiator has a full-keel w/attached rudder and the CAL 2-24 has a Fin-Keel with a spade rudder. We are still trying to get a full ID, but it is not the flat deck type. Origin is 1964 on the registration, and it needs a lot of TLC. But the hull is very strong still so we are rebuilding the interior and the rigging. The boat is living in Oregon and eventually will be our little weekender then used for short week long cruises in the San Juans.
