Are you talking about the rubber seal around the rim of the hatch that
seals out the elements when you close the hatch or the sealant that keeps water
out where the hatch meets the deck?
5200 is for stuff you never plan on replacing and 4200 stays more pliable.
I don't use 5200 for anything. "Anti-bond" will loosen 5200 however should
you need to.

I remember watching a guy try and get the lead keel off his boat that had
been attached with 5200. He had all the keel bolts out and the boat up on
stands but nothing he could do would remove the keel. I was done and left
the yard and he hadn't gotten it off. I used 5200 to attach the soap holder
grab bar in my shower when it fell off. Works great for things like that.
4200 is like Silkaflex 291. I use it when I can't get Silkaflex.

I spent a good part of the day cutting and pulling strands of 5200 from the keel to hull joint, only to discover it was about 1/2 to 3/4 " deep, beyond that, the joint was full of tar, I had a blast getting that out.
I will be working on removing the keel tomorrow, that should be fun.
BTW, anyone see the fight last night? Our boy, Cotto, got his butt kicked by Manny. I was rooting for Cotto, but my money was on Manny!
What can I say, I was raised in PR, boxing is in our blood...

On Cal Gal, we have no seals on the stock hatches, and the hatches don't leak.
I don't like gluing foam, it is just messy, and always fails.
Have you looked into this solution? Clips the the edge of the hatch door.
