Garbage patch video
Below is a very telling video re: the plastic in the Pacific. It's pretty
disgusting and makes me wonder about the condition of the other bodies of
water.
One of the "old salts" in my sailing club has lived on the Chesapeake all
his life and he is in his early 60's and he said back in the day, you could
not run your powerboat across the bay w/o stopping 2 or 3 times to clean
the sea grass off the prop. Another guy I was talking to worked on the Bay
Bridge and remembers how clear it was and how you could see schools of
rockfish swimming under the bridge.
Nowadays I've seen aerial photos of a brown streak down the middle of the
Chester River downstream from a sewage treatment plant. It is such a joke
that there is a local band that must not think a lot of themselves as they
call themselves the "Chester River Runoff".
