Thomas Point Gives Up
Husar, Charlie [USA]2010-02-06 20:58 UTC
Apparently, the wind indicator at Thomas Point Light House gave up the ghost. Musta froze. Light is a mile off shore in Chesapeake Bay not far from Annapolis. We have more than 2 feet on the ground and snow will continue till this evening. I know some of your Northerners are used to this, but we that our boats in the water to Frostbite race all winter are not. I wonder if Chris H or Chris B are sleeping on Bay Breeze.
Cheers, Anyway
Charlie

Hi Everyone,
Chris B snuck off the Bay Breeze in last Saturdays's snow storm (MD & DL) and spent a few hours going slowly across country to Route 95 and then home to Rhode Island. Rumor has it that Chris H was going to seek shelter at a local motel for the duration. I had a great time visiting with Chris and an interesting introduction to living aboard. Had a lot of fun on the Cal29.
Best wishes to all those in the snow belt!
Chris B

Nope. Im at the Mariner's Motel enjoying the bath tub and TV with as much
beer as I want.I cant get over how cheap beer is down here. More then a
third less then home. So whats a lad to do?
Up here the storms back is broken. I headed for the motel as the combination
of snow and forecast winds gusts to 50 mph had a chance to drop power lines
meaning if the power went down, I could be stranded on the docks alone for
quite a while as there was discussion of closing the streets up here pending
on down fall. Far too irresponsible to stay on board if an emergency was
called so left early and having a good time.
The staff at the marina are top notch, even alocated me an alternative slip
on A dock, much closer to shore and pointed into the wind, right behind a
big old fat 40+ft Choey Lee Clipper Ketch. Nice wind blocker.
Chris B as far as I know is probably in his flannel jammies enjoying
popcorn....:) Good guy and good to have his company for a week.
Best part about the motel, I get to watch the Super Bowl commercials. Marina
should be open on Monday afternoon at which time I'll head back to the
vessel and start shovelling her out.
Thanks for asking.
