Now I Understand
cal29brad2010-02-13 18:47
NBC news reported that yesterday there was measurable snowfall in forty-nine of the fifty states. It has been too cold for me to simply go down to the marina and work on my boat, let alone take it out.
So now I am beginning to understand what it is like for all of you who are up north, many of you with your boats on a hardstand for the winter.
I couldn't live like that.
Here's to hoping for an early Spring and a great Summer this year....

Well, it's 11C and sunny here. If I didn't have an awful cold I'd be out
on the water this weekend! Too bad we're hosting the Winter Olympics -
we have to truck snow IN to have enough for the events.

Hi Charles,
Yes, I have been watching that. Yesterday one of our local television weather reports included a comment that our temperatures here were lower than yours there!
I never considered moving to Canada, but perhaps I should. The view of the bay there, at least on TV, looks great! We certainly do not have mountains like you do!

Brad,
Wasn't Bob Hite, was it? Always loved the drama between he and what's her name....!
My wife is begging me to buy something down there again - lots to choose from right now....as much as she loves the Chesapeake...she is about over the snow! She wants us to be, dare I say it...what we both disdained while there...."snow birds"? LOL....
Looking again up in the Clearwater area....Dunedin, Palm Harbor.....our old home and stomping grounds. We come down often...still have lots of friend there.
BTW, Love Vancouver....one of my favorite places in the world. We go to Whistler every couple of years.... Not a bad choice right now.....and the passage is incredible!

Oh shucks,
Hows the weather in San Francisco in Feb and March you ask?
We having balmy weather in the seventies here today.
I invites the America's Cup to compete here on the Santa Monica Bay on behalf of the hundreds of Cal Boats berthed here. All the teams show up with rented bulldozers in Marina del Rey and you can have as much room for your race compounds as you wish. All this commercial developement is strictly illegal..sez so in the deed of gift from the 1954 Congressional Act, so we'll sue the developers for all the money they stole and make them build racing facilities as repentance.
Yeee Haaa!

For a real treat run up to Nanimo then Port Hardy........breathless.
For those in the Chesapeake the Canadian Maritimes are wonderful and
Newfoundland and Cape Breton are not to be missed. Shameless plug. Now
that everyone is "acclimatized" there are no reasons not to come
visit. The sailing season is pretty long given the above...:)

Cute...on my friends crossing from Nova Scotia to Grand Manan, on the
engine, he caught a current that spun the boat around in a 360 while on
autopiloit. Recommends lots of rode...:)
