Joe , I was under the assumption that running through a 2 micron would keep the injectors and pump working better for a longer time. I run my diesel through a 2 micron from my main tanks into my day tank. From my day tank through another 2 micron to the engine filter. My fuel can be up to a year old before it gets used so I figured better safe than sorry. Any recommendations are appreciated. I have the 4-236 in the boat. So,.... I had just removed a Racor 500 to replace it with a dual 500 (75500 max) . Both of the dual filters use 10 micron elements. I reinstalled the original 500 as the secondary fuel filter, with a 2 micron element. the AC filter will have its element removed soon.. the Racors are easier to service than the AC and less messy. Nowmy fuel system is worth more than my boat! Reggie No virus found in this incoming message. Hi Rich - That Perkins is an excellent , heavy duty engine. However, it does not need any finer filtration than 10 micron.
