Loctite under water

Old boat owners:
My other old boat has a mechanical Sumlog. It uses a little rotating
propeller to drive the device, not a paddlewheel. The little rotating
propeller is mounted on a hollow stud that holds the thrust bearing.
The drive cable goes through the hollow stud.
The hollow stud is press-fit into a larger stainless tube in the plastic
bracket that's secured to the hull. Somehow the press fit was not
secure enough to hold the stud in, and it pulled out. Actually, if I
press it back in, it's pretty hard to extract--yesterday I had to use
pliers to grasp it and extract it again.
My question is whether I could use Loctite to make the fit more secure.
Does it function during prolonged submersion? Is there a similar
adhesive that's better in such an application?
I'll check the Loctite web site but figured that boat folks often have
useful perspectives on things like this.

I've used many Loctite products in many of my designs over the years, most of them in the ocean. Their tech support people have always been very helpful in recommending a product when I described the application. I've used both the phone and email media, but I'd recommend calling them. Describe the application and the environment, and they'll tell you which of their products to use.
Good luck!
