Wayne - Just finished the 4 day class on Marine Electrical Systems at the Annapolis School of Seamanship and while I don't have time to go into it right now, I'm afraid you are wrong, sorry. Real quick, they re wired an entire ferry boat with floods, spots, running lights the whole 9 yards and based on the cost to replace halogens, battery life etc etc the LED's won out hands down. Running lights alone on a sailboat can use up to 50 amp hours a night LED's were a fraction of that. That said, they did say you need to evaluate how the boat is going to be used to see if it is worth the money. If you're just daysailing, no long overnight passages, hooking up to a dock every night, then LED's may not be worth the money to you. Wish I had more time. BTW that class was well worth the money. I need to re-wire my boat and now rightly or wrongly I feel completely confident to do it. If I don't know how to do something I at least know the right question to ask now! Paul
