Allen, Both the wind generator and solar panels are wired separately/directly to the house bank and there are no sensing leads. The Air-x wind generator has it's own internal regulator and the 2x50w solar panels go through a Blue Sky MPPT charge controller. I will be upgrading the wiring/fusing to handle the larger (2x130w) panels we are adding this next trip to PR. All connections at the house bank, including the battery charger, are connected to the same pair of terminals. We have a separate battery for starting the engine, as you guessed. Thanks for the info. There is a nice table and calculator at this site http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm <http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm>Enter the distance from your generator to the battery and relevant information and it will give you the voltage drop. Handy. Of course, there are other issues in picking a wire sizes but this will tell you if you are dropping a significant amount of your charging voltage or not.
