its easy to be green...update from Barbara

I need to add to Reggie’s update, maybe because I always need the last word! Last night was a rock and roll, clang and bang night. Current and wind at odds-lots of yawing. Then my ingenious husband thought that it might help to let the dingy trail way behind the boat to slow down the swing. IT DID! I finally went to sleep after 2:00 AM., thus the late start-I slept in! Then I decided to remodel the “bedroom”. Reggie mentioned the ‘rough’ weather this morning. If you remember his ‘metaphor’ it was like driving on a mountain gravel road, with huge rocks and pot holes—during an earthquake. What did I do to the bedroom you ask? I changed the ‘king sized’ v-birth to a ‘double’ and rotated it 90 degrees! That was pretty much all I was good for today. We stopped at Jekyl’s marina to fuel, pump and get more water. I just want you to know that it is ‘Easy to be Green’ (sorry Kermit). In just under 3 weeks, we have used about 60 gallons of water (drinking, cooking, washing), 70 gallons of fuel (taking us about 900 miles and supplying us with all of our electric needs) of course the wind has helped with both! We are still on our first 10 pound tank of propane, cooking only. We have off loaded 5 medium kitchen garbage bags. I’ve never measured what we consume at home, but I bet it doesn’t compare. I really do like this simple life. At Jekyl’s, it was suggested that we leave the ‘boat parade’ and go up the Frederica River. Good choice. Beautiful, quite and Christmas is April!
