I saw what I think was a Cal 25 (before I was a Cal owner) in St. Mikes that the Guy had built what looked like a pilothouse on. Should work as long as bolting areas have rebar support. > >Reggie, I think everybody bit their tongue and went Yuk. He chopped off the bottom foot of the keel (the lead area), glassed the bottom of what was left, and filled the bilge with concrete. Then he built a square box deck doghouse out of plywood over the slide hatch area which he had cut out bigger. It was heart breaking. The family does not like to talk about it much. > >Cheers >Charlie > >________________________________ >From: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com [mailto:Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Bruce Stirling >Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2010 1:32 AM >To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com >Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] dreaded beam > > > >That was a question I posed to the group a couple of years ago. I wondered why it would not work, particularly when concrete continues to cure when in water. My comment was dismissed at the time as being "too heavy."
