I am sailing Again Two.....
Hi All,
What a Beautiful day in the Pacific Northwest - Puget Sound -
Well, I finally got to take her out after taking care of quite a few little
wants this winter. Installed a nice little Harken roller furler on my Cal
20. I know, some of you purest will give me a hard time, but it is great
when singlehanding to be able to just roll up the head sail when ready to
come in and not have to get up on the deck. It wasn't as easy as I thought
though, as the halyard wanted to wrap around the extrusion when I tried to
furl the sail at the dock. I had to install a little block and strap to the
upper swivel and around the halyard close to the mast to hold it in place.
Worked great.
Out I went into a great sunny day with light wind in the 8 - 10 range and
was sailing at 5.9 knots by the gps.
Oh yea.......that's what I came out for.......reeled in a San Juan 24 on a
tack up to Camano Island from the Everett marina before tacking and running
across the bay.
What a fantastic first sail of the season. Finally had to come in. Floated
into the slip without incident, and tucked her in for the night.
Doesn't get much better..........
