Hi Dan,
I will be there around noon. I am still playing with the boat so I should be on the dock or tied up to someone.

Dan,
We left at 630 and are beating into a large swell. Looks like we will be in after 1 ish.

Dan,
It was great to see you and Wilkie. I had a great time. Little bit of a head ache, but it was nothing a little water cured. Ok. a lot of water.
We ended up in second place to Velero. I got lost at Platfrom C. The Out Riggers placed a mark out there. So, between the fog, the Fast boats sailing past the mark, losing track of the oil Rigs and shore, I got so turned around, Velero sailed under us and we couldn't correct out.
The race started out with light winds, then by the time we got 3/4 of the way we were surfing along at 8.5 Knots over water, I think it was over 9 on the GPS. Now we know!
I think we are doing the real Hardway if we can get a class of slow boats and leave maybe Friday instead of Saturday.

Randy,
Is Velero the notorious Islander 29 that rates same as my Cal 24, 234?
They were my nemesis trying to win the Channel Islands to MdR race for many years. I finally won it three years ago, with up to 30 knot broad reach and tailwinds, and a whole lot of surfing.
Two years ago the wind shut down at Pt. Dume and we motored in rather than bobbing around all night in the dark with the dolphins swimming by, laughing at us. Chalk that up to olde age. Last year we didn't do the race, and heard the winds were great. The Channel Islands "Beefeaters" put on a pretty good feed for the racers the night before. The race will be coming up in late June.

Randy,
Congratulations on 2nd place. Don't you hate it when the race is yours to
win but manage to give it away. I do that far to often. I feared the wind
would non-existent, so I am glad It blew. What was your elapsed time for the
non-spin.
Cheers
Dan

24 miles in 4.22.46. We had little to light winds to Platform C, after that it picked up.
