Thanks, folks. Yes, there's already a mount on the transom - when I bought the boat it had both an outboard and an inboard. The previous owner had put the mount on with some super strong 3M glue that ensured I'd have a major repair to remove it. But I'll add a backing plate on the inside as well. Boat is configured such that it doesn't make sense for anyone but the person steering to be aft on the boat, fly up or down. J Anne Racel 4 Degrees
