Prop advice
Allen Edwards2010-06-18 00:39 UTC
Now that we are done with Abby...
I have a very old prop (50 years?). It is two blade folding with no gears
or anything fancy. I think it is a Martek. I attached a very poor picture
of it. I like it a lot but I have this vibration and my diver said I should
get it "tuned up", whatever that is. The bearing is relatively new (1 year
old) and the diver said it was good. My typical engine use is motoring 1
mile to get out of the channel and another mile to return to the slip.
There are times when I need to motor as much as 5 miles and these happen a
couple of times a year. I don't trust my 55 year old engine for longer than
that so it is unlikely I would need to motor greater distances.
It would be nice to get rid of the vibration but perhaps the most cost
effective thing is to ignore it. I would appreciate some advice.
