2-29 transmission cable

Greets all: Thanks for all the advise, help and information. A simple question. Want to order ahead for delivery in NJ. Anyone have the spec for the teledyne replacements cable for the 2/3-29 binnacle mount cable. It needs to be replaced and following discussions with Moyer Marine's "Ken" and others the recommendation is to put it at the binnacle. This is going to be fun exercise as Im going to have to by some very long needle nose plyers and small dia wrenches as I cannot remove the binnacle completely, Only the compass can be removed at this time. So to sum it up, the request is for the spec on the teledyne replacement cable for 2/3-29 (should be no difference) shifter. Best and many thanks as always. /ch -- /ch

Wilkie posted something back in Jan 2010. I had a problem and he had a very descriptive memory of what had to be done. I lucked out and just fixed the transmission end of the cable. Lots os soaking if you want to remove the screws under the compass. No Im not going to tackle that job to float the boat. Read that post...to scary at this point. Thats a winter job as too much can go wrong and result in delays. I figure that with a pair of automotive bent tongue pliers on 10 inch handles that a really nice and skinny I should be able to disconnect the head end of the cable. The other end is a snap and dead simple. So just looking for the model number and length of cable to buy. If it does not work, then will move everything off to the side with a morse controller, its the backup method. Many thanks /ch

I do not recall being that difficult to replace 10 yeqars ago with my CAL39 - There is very little space for your fingers so make sure all your tools are tied to fishing line and place a big rag under the binacle exit in case you drop any screws so they wont jump too far. I used Kroil? spray a lot to soak the old bolts and tap them a lot (and very careful), eventually they came out --- In Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com, chris123 <chris.herrnberger@...> wrote: > > No Im not going to tackle that job to float the boat.
