Eric and I were assigned to the leeward side of dock CharlieCharlie adjacent to the Shorline Yacht Club after last weekends Queen Mary Race, and several boats down was a brand new (looking..but coulda fooled anyone) Cal 40 Willow Wind. Was that Wendy's boat? Really gawd-jiss.
We finally finished in the hardware, or in this case, glassware (a nice sized etching of the mighty Queen decorated by the Shorline and Redondo Beach YC burgies) for a change, after half a dozen attempts, second place in Cruising Division. The Yacht Club members were sure nice to us!
I can't recommend the race too highly to anyone in the SoCal area, a very fun 22 mile race From King Harbor, around the Palos Verdes Penninsula, passing thru Hurricane Gulch and around Oil Island White, finishing at the Queen's pretty fan tail.

Actually, more like a pleasure cruise down the SoCal coast from San Pedro
to Newport Beach, early May.
It's not the most photogenic angle for a Cal-40, but we were having
fun.
