Great idea. As they say, the "dullest pencil is sharper than the sharpest mind". Wayne Gillikin and previous Cal 39 owner have attempted a similar project for the Cal 39. Over that period of time I've seem some very knowledgeable people come and go and new ones arrive. What has always interested me are the anecdotal stories related to a particular model and peoples experiences with there cal of choice. Since I now own two Cal's a 20 and 29, its important for me and perhaps others to collect as much information about the 29 as is known both the oral history communicated in personal correspondence as well as what has been documented all ready. So....what I would like to do is start a CAL-29 project and collect, collate, prepare and re-distribute in an organized manner as much as is known about these vessel, its history of design, its production run, its performance history, quirks, mods and redesigns. The intend is to collect all this information, then form a nice table of contents, and make the data available under a creative commons license that allows the work to be copyrighted but freely distributed.. for example: _http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/_ (http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/) Im not interested in profit rather a solid history of the vessel So a couple of questions if I may. 1. Since there will be a home page for the project is it favored to collect the information on list or off or both. 2. Anyone have any objections, legal or otherwise. 3. Would folks who have a deep background on the 29 mind being contacted off list 4. Are there folks who are interested in perhaps helping out in some way The concept really is simple. History passes with individuals. As they pass an entire knowledge base that exceeds stuff in print is lost. Case in point, this discussion on how and if the CAL-29 drawings should be released. Lots of good stories came out of that discussion. People's memories get jogged a bit and stories emerged that are all part of the history of this design . The concept is to collect both the technical and oral history around the vessel. Comments most welcomed. Even if they are negative...as in don't bother..:) -- /ch

Agreed, hence the approach is more a solicitation approach then a contributary one. Its makes it doable rather then sitting back waiting fro it to happen. /ch
