In theory that might work, I just don't think he has the reasoning ability to sort all that out. If we went everyday maybe, but not once a week. It is not a routine for us yet. Right now the boat is just a different environment that he enjoys like a park or jungle gym. He is amazingly agile and unaffected by the wave action. We have yet to sail with him but have motored around. My wife made a harness but it needs some tweaking but that will be the next try. Thanks - Paul In a message dated 9/7/2010 9:58:34 A.M. You have to make it fun for him to go out or you will turn him off to sailing for life. An alternative is to explain that you cannot leave the dock until he puts on the life jacket and just have a day at the dock if he won't. The best plan would be to take your son and a friend of his that likes wearing life jackets. Of course, if your state allows harnesses, try that.
