Check out this video from a young sailor from California. He has a Cal 34 much older than my own. It's a 1967 that appears to be in less than stellar condition. Probably could buy it on Yatchworld for well under $8k. He doesn't know he shouldn't be sailing it out on the Pacific in this condition but he does anyway. And he's having a ball and getting 'er dun. I'm still refurbishing ALL my old equipment and installing new stuff. Who really is the wise one here. he's sailing and I'm sweating.
Watch to the end when he finally leaves the yard and gets out on the water. I love the music choice and the victory lap of porpoises. I am inspired.
Cheers,
Danny

His boat looks like it is in pretty good shape to me. You should go
sailing.
Do you know you can do nothing to teak for 55 years and it will still be
there? I can prove it. Go sailing. Win races. Have fun.

You got that right. To hell with the teak - Sail the boat. The best way to
keep the boat perfect is to keep it on coffee table.
