Cal 25 Jib Fair lead
leetbk2010-09-16 11:32
Greetings,
I need to replace the Mariner brand jib fair lead for my 1974 Cal 25. Apparently the company is no longer in business. (Imagine that !)
Thanks in advance
Lee

Look through the Garhauer Line of products.
http://garhauermarine.com/catalog.cfm
they have a number of styles that will work.

Lee, I assume you have the old 15/16" fat track (original with the boat), rather than the newer 1" skinny stuff. Unfortunately, I passed along my last two "fat track" blocks to others in our Fleet this year (by fairlead, do you mean a bullseye or a block?). Two choices: troll E-Bay, or go buy a 1" new style slider block that has a plastic sleeve in it. Rip out the sleeve (ouch!). The block will then fit the track. Not a pristine fit, but it will slide well and it will anchor down securely.
Timm and All, a couple items of interest. Mauri Pro in Texas now has some Garhauer gear. I believe that all new blocks (also for Garhauer) for mid size boats are now made to match either 1" of 1 1/4" track that is vertically thin.
Cheers
Charlie

Lee, Let us know how your search pans out.I also need the same bullseye fairlead for my Cal-28.I bought one from West Marine, but the plastic bullseye is not hollowed out on the bottom. It has to fit over top of a screw head on the car...hence the hollowed out area on the bottom
Mark.

In the end, are you way ahead if you just by a few feet of new track....your buying new cars regardless. W/ the new track your options are so much better.
